Today we are going to learn five super facts about squirrels. Fact number one, squirrels are small to medium sized rodents that belong to the family sc die. There are more than 200 species of squirrels worldwide, including tree squirrels, ground squirrels, and flying squirrels. They come in various colors and sizes depending on the species of some having bushy hales and others having slender tails. Facts number two, squirrels can be found in a wide range of habitats including forests, grassland, and urban environment. Tree squirrels, as can name suggests, living trees and unknown for their impressive agility and climbing skills.
Ground squirrels, on the other hand, live in burs or tunnels that they dig in the ground. Flying squirrels so they don’t truly fly can glide between trees using a special membrane, coal, a pad, which stretches from their wrists to their ankles. Facts number three, squirrels are primarily herbivores of your diet consisting of nuts, seeds, fruit, and plant materials. However, some species may also eat insects, eggs, or small vertebraes. On occasion, squirrels are known for the habit of gathering and storing food, especially nuts to prepare for winter.
