Bio energy is one of the promising clean energy that will change our life in the future. Let’s learn five brilliant bio energy facts for kids.

Bio Energy Facts for Kids Fact Number 1: Bio-energy Was Used in The Stone Age

Bio energy is energy that comes from the sun and is stored in plants, trees, and living matter. When these plants and trees are burned they release the energy they store and we can use this energy in many ways. Burning wood and using the energy it stores to create heat is a form of bio energy. That means that when humans in the stone age used fire to keep warm they were using bio energy. When we eat and use food for fuel that is also a form of bio energy.

Bio Energy Facts for Kids Fact Number 2: Bio-energy Is Used to Create Electricity

Bio-energy originally comes from the sun but the energy is stored by plants and trees which use the sun’s energy to make food. This energy is then stored until it can be released. To create electricity we have to take that energy and move it from the trees and plants into power we can use. We do this by burning the trees and plants which creates heat. The heat then boils water which creates steam. The steam then powers a turbine which creates electricity. All the energy from the plants is transferred to the turbine.

Bio Energy Facts for Kids Fact Number 3: Cars Can Be Powered Using Biofuel

Crops such as corn or wheat can even be turned into fuel to power a car. They have energy stored from the sun which we can turn into fuel through a process called milling. When corn is milled and fermented it creates a liquid called ethanol. The ethanol has a lot of energy stored in it so that it can be used as a fuel for cars.

Some people have even started using cooking oil from restaurants to power their car as an environmentally friendly alternative. This is a way to prevent food waste while using bio energy.

Bio Energy Facts for Kids Fact Number 4: Bio-energy Is a Renewable Energy Source

Renewable energy sources will never run out as long as they continue to be produced. Because the sun is always shining down on Earth and plants are there to soak up the energy there will always be bio energy. As long as we plant more trees when we cut them down then we can continue to use bio energy to make electricity. This is different to fossil fuels which will eventually run out. Bio energy is almost carbon neutral which means it is also better for the planet than using fossil fuels.

Bio Energy Facts for Kids Fact Number 5: Bio-energy Is Available anywhere in The World

Everywhere in the world that there are plants, trees, and living matter there is bio energy being stored which can be used. This is great for people who live in remote regions or rural areas with lots of farmland. These areas are hard to connect to the electrical grid but they have lots of access to bio energy through plants and trees.
