Nursery Rhymes for Kids – Mary had a Little Lamb

What are the nursery rhymes that are found out there? How many are they? This is a good question but the answer might stay vague because there are lots of different nursery rhymes in the world of children and with different stories and meanings.

There are different benefits carried with these nursery rhymes that start with filling their free time with something cheerful and energetic and end with letting them know more about phonics because they listen to the words of the song and know how they are supposed to be pronounced correctly.

“Mary had a Little Lamb” is one of the most famous nursery rhymes that is found out there in the world of kids songs. The lyrics of this song are here:

“Mary had a little lamb,

Its fleece was white as snow.

And everywhere that Mary went,

The lamb was sure to go.

It followed her to school one day,

That was against the rules.

It made the children laugh and play,

To see the lamb at school”

Mentioning the different benefits that are related to exposing the kids to the different nursery rhymes, we have to mention that they help the kids with their listening skills and give them the chance to know how the words should be pronounced and thus give them a good base when they start their reading journey (Phonics Games for Kids).

In addition to phonics, nursery rhymes are good when it comes to the social life of the kids because they will be singing and dancing in the nursery with their friends and thus will be better when it comes to their social life and communicating with other people.

Adding to these benefits, we should mention one important thing out there, which is the use of those nursery rhymes as a way of educating the kids since they are sometimes used for teaching them numbers and how to count, and they are also used to teach them the ABC alphabet (Learn the Alphabet for Kids).

The benefits of these nursery rhymes could even get further with some kids, but as much as they might be effective, they could also carry some negative effects on the other hand if they are not chosen wisely. There are some general tips to be followed with choosing the nursery rhymes for the kids, they should be always positive and chosen with some meaningful words inside, the kids must be the ones approving them, and they should not be exposed to these different videos and songs for more than the recommended half an hour.

We have other songs which we would recommend for kids, such as “Two Little Dickie Birds” (Nursery Rhymes for Kids), “Old Mother Hubbard” (Kids Nursery Rhymes), “This Little Piggy” (Nursery Rhymes for Toddlers) “Hush Little Baby” (Nursery Rhymes for Babies and Toddlers) and many more.

The rhythm of these songs is different, some are used for the daily hours they spend in playing and learning and there are those calming down ones which are used when they are sleeping, which makes the choice of the rhyme that will be chosen depends on the time and the need.

Some of the nursery and kids songs which are used by parents or teachers are used for educational purposes, such as teaching the kids to count in the right order and sometimes they are used in order to teach them the English alphabet (Counting Rhymes for Kids).

Educating the kids could happen through lots of different ways and they will differ according to the kid and his/her likes and dislikes and that’s why these songs and rhymes might be effective with some and might turn to be not much effective with other kids.
